Coronation Street is set to unveil the identity of the hoax ambulance caller in a shocking twist later this week.

The ITV soap featured a hard-hitting knife crime storyline in Monday’s episode, working closely with the Ben Kinsella Trust to ensure the plot’s authenticity.

Mason Radcliffe had chosen to assist DS Lisa Swain in her quest to bring his evil brothers, Matty and Logan, to justice. This decision came after Lisa revealed to Mason that his brothers were responsible for the car accident that claimed the life of her late wife, Becky.

Despite Mason’s efforts to gather evidence against his brothers, they were released from custody due to insufficient proof. Recognising the danger he was in, Mason decided to leave Coronation Street, fearing retaliation from his brothers. He accepted a job offer in Germany from Stu Carpenter, hoping for a fresh start, reports Lancs Live.

It comes as Mason will be left fighting for his life next week

However, Monday night’s episode saw tragedy unfold as Mason’s brothers tracked him down and brutally attacked him. Dylan, witnessing the assault, attempted to scare off Matty and Logan with his zombie knife, but they managed to seize it and used it to stab Mason.

Abi Franklin, who tragically lost her own son Seb Franklin to a violent attack in 2021, discovered Mason in the children’s play area, bleeding from a stab wound. She made desperate attempts to save him.

An ambulance delay due to a prank call left paramedic Asha Alahan frustrated when she discovered that a reported cardiac arrest patient was a hoax. Upon the ambulance’s arrival, Dylan informed the paramedics, including Asha, that Mason had been stabbed by his brothers.

In the ambulance, Betsy Swain comforted Mason, assuring him alongside Abi that he would be alright. However, the tragic news of Mason’s death was later revealed at the hospital, leaving everyone shocked.

Later this week, the culprit behind the hoax ambulance call will be unveiled as Joseph Brown confesses. After overhearing Asha tell Dev Alahan about the prank call that delayed their response to Mason, Joseph walks into the police station and admits to Kit Green that he made the call, leading the ambulance on a futile chase.

Upon learning about the hoax call to emergency services from Craig Tinker, parents Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown are appalled. Once Craig leaves, Joseph confesses that the prank was Hope Stape’s idea.

As the week progresses, Gemma discloses that Joseph will receive a youth caution for making the hoax call, a revelation that Fiz empathises with, knowing that the prank was Hope’s idea.
