Coronation Street star leaving UK for new role after quitting soap weeks ago
Former Coronation Street actress Charlotte Jordan has secured a lucrative gig overseas following her departure from the popular soap.
The 29 year old star, who played Daisy Midgley on the cobbles, has reportedly signed a deal for a new project just weeks after leaving the ITV show.
She will be taking part in a tell-all live show and will be heading out on a Coronation Street-themed tour of Canada from next month.
Samia Longchambon is also preparing for a summer event, having signed up for a gathering in the style of An Audience With.
Charlotte’s departure from the beloved soap comes amid announcements that up to 75 cast and crew members face potential job losses at the show in the coming weeks.
The actress, who has been a staple on the programme for nearly five years, shared her reasons for exiting with The Sun earlier in the year.
She said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish.
“It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.
“After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”
A source also disclosed to The Sun that Charlotte had chosen to leave the show herself.
They said: “Charlotte has loved her time on the cobbles but is young, ambitious and hungry to see what else is out there for her.
“She told bosses last April that her next contract would be her last, giving them a year to craft an exciting exit storyline.
“She’s still filming now and her final scenes will play out in early summer.
“She’s adored by cast and crew and will be hugely missed.”
During her tenure, Charlotte’s character was pivotal in some key storylines, which included being at the heart of a blackmail scheme and suffering through a stalking ordeal by Justin Rutherford that resulted in Daisy and Ryan enduring an acid attack.
