Coronation Street ‘confirms’ legend is getting killed off – and it’s not David Platt
Coronation Street has appeared to confirm a legend is getting killed off – but it’s not David Platt.
Over on the soap this week, things took a seriously dramatic turn when David (Jack P. Shepherd) arranged his murder. As fans will recall David owes thousands of pounds to gangster Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).
Resorting to desperate measures this week, David asked criminal Andy to kill him, in order to claim his life insurance money to settle his debts.
In Wednesday’s episode (March 5), Andy went ahead with the plan, running over David – who was standing in the middle of the road. However, pregnant Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) ended up getting hit.
With David fighting for his life, his family rallied around him – who was bleeding out on the street. An ambulance quickly arrived and he was sent to hospital – where it was later confirmed that David was stable and ok.
However, while David has appeared to make it out alive, fans are certain that the same can’t be said for another character. Earlier on in the show, David’s stepson Max (Paddy Bever) called up David from prison.
Max was jailed this week for six and a half years for setting fire to the Platt house, in a bid to raise the money for Harvey. However, a terrified Max has ended up in jail – and called up David this week to inform him that he thinks Harvey’s pals in prison are going to kill him – to which David told him to “hang on in there”.
Now, fans are certain Max is going to die – but in a heartbreaking twist they fear he will commit suicide. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “Wondering if Max is going to kill himself !!!!”
Someone else added: “I think he is or Harvey gets to him first!” A third then chimed in and penned: “When David said hang in there – I think this too.” A fourth also declared: “I thought that.”
Max’s potential death could play into his exit storyline, as earlier this year, it was announced that actor Paddy had quit the soap. He said: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.”
Talking to The Mirror, he added: ‘It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.”
