Fans of Coronation Street are convinced they’ve figured out how Bethany Platt will make her exit from the ITV soap.
The character, portrayed by Lucy Fallon, is a beloved figure on the show. Over the years, she’s been at the centre of numerous major plotlines, ranging from child grooming to illicit affairs.
It’s safe to say that life hasn’t been smooth sailing for Bethany. Particularly in recent episodes, as in September, she suffered a perforated bowel and life-threatening sepsis following a botched liposuction procedure in Turkey.
As a result of the surgery and subsequent sepsis, Bethany now has a permanent stoma bag. The ordeal has taken its toll on her and strained her relationship with Daniel Osbourne (played by Rob Mallard).
ately, however, Daniel has found himself torn between Bethany and his ex, Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan). Just a few weeks ago, Daniel and Daisy had a clandestine tryst – a secret Bethany remains oblivious to, reports Lancs Live.
Adding to the drama on the cobbles last week, Daisy discovered she was pregnant, unsure whether the father is Daniel or her intermittent boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
To complicate matters further, prior to learning about her pregnancy, Daisy witnessed Daniel proposing to Bethany, who accepted his marriage proposal. However, with actress Lucy Fallon’s departure imminent, fans suspect that Bethany may not get her fairy-tale ending.
In August, it was announced that actress Lucy would be stepping away from Corrie due to her pregnancy. Lucy is expecting her second child with her boyfriend Ryan Ledson, following the birth of their son Sonny Jude last year.
Now, fans believe they’ve uncovered the reason behind Bethany’s impending exit – and it’s a heart-wrenching one. Taking to X to share their speculations, viewers think she’ll bid farewell after discovering the truth about Daniel and Daisy, and then pay a visit to her grandmother Gail (Helen Worth) in France.
One fan guessed: “Baby is obvs Daniel’s and Bethany will find out and that’ll be them writing her out for maternity leave,” Another viewer surmised: “I’m thinking that Daniel finds out that Daisy is pregnant around late January and Bethany breaks up with Daniel.”
