Coronation Street fans were quick to voice their reactions on Friday night as Kit Green’s past was laid bare.

In the latest episode, viewers were given a glimpse into Kit’s childhood and history with Mick Michaelis through a special flashback sequence.

Three young actors stepped into the roles of Kit, Mick and Lou for the flashback scenes, which oscillated between their teenage years, the secrets that bind them, and their present lives.

hroughout the episode, Mick persistently blackmailed Kit about an incident at a shop from their youth, leaving the detective unsettled.

Bernie Winter, sensing something amiss, managed to get Kit to reveal what was going on, demanding to know why he was protecting Mick, reports Leicestershire Live.

It transpired that Kit and Mick were best mates, with Mick’s bad influence frequently leading Kit astray.

In one flashback scene at the local shop, while attempting to purchase some bread, Mick slipped some stolen alcohol into Kit’s rucksack, insisting they leave without paying.

Later, Kit returned to the shop intending to pay for the pilfered cider and the bread. However, the shopkeeper was far from pleased, instead berating Mick, tearing his family to shreds and branding him scum.

Kit was incensed, particularly after witnessing his biological mother Bernie being rejected by his adoptive mother earlier, and he swore to take revenge on the shopkeeper.

Later, the two lads executed their revenge plan and on Kit’s orders, Mick posted a lit firework through the letterbox, believing the shop was unoccupied.

As they watched the explosion, they were horrified to hear screams from inside the shop, revealing that the shopkeeper’s wife was present.

Confiding in Bernie, Kit disclosed how the shopkeeper’s wife sustained third-degree burns and he fled the scene, leaving Mick to be arrested.

In another flashback, a young Kit and Lou visited Mick in the STC, where Mick claimed Kit owed him a favour and could start by smuggling drugs. However, Kit declined, resulting in Mick threatening him.

In more dramatic twists, as the episode returned to the present, Kit and Mick found themselves in a dispute, leading to a worried Lou privately questioning Kit if it was because Mick discovered their past affair while he was incarcerated.

After assuring her their secret was safe, and a flashback confirming their teenage fling, the episode concluded with Mick and Lou taking Brody out for a meal to celebrate his release from the STC.

Simultaneously, Kit walked in as he overheard the family discussing Brody’s birthday, leading him to the horrifying realisation that he could be Brody’s father, as Lou gave him a significant glance.

One viewer exclaimed: “I enjoyed that flashback episode it was amazing! #Corrie”, while another tweeted: “OMG that potential final twist in tonight’s #Corrie at the end of tonight’s flashback episode.
