Susan’s distress grows as she receives confirmation that Karl has been injured on the bike trip in Italy. While Karl is rushed into surgery to repair his badly broken leg, Susan’s loved ones urge her to fly to Europe so she can be by his side.
Susan feels she can’t leave the residents of Eirini Rising with no-one in charge, so Terese forges a plan. She needs to convince the residents to reinstate her as General Manager.
Paul, Toadie and Harold gather the residents so Terese can make a case to win them over. Tugging on heartstrings, Terese argues that Susan and Karl have done nothing but care for the community of Eirini Rising – now it’s the residents’ turn to do the right thing.
Led by cantankerous Moira, some residents are reluctant to reinstate Terese after her struggles with alcoholism and the accident she caused. But Harold, Paul and Toadie come through for Terese and sway the vote in her favour.
Meanwhile, Yaz
eagerly shows the video of Heath she’s discovered to Detective Holden, a senior investigator in the city. She’s sure the video will prove there’s more to the story behind her brother’s death, but he later reports back that it isn’t enough to reopen the case.
Posing as a lawyer, Yaz forms a new plan by calling the prison, setting up a meeting with one of the inmates – Heath’s accomplice Tess Carmichael.
Elsewhere, Cara reels from Remi’s bombshell. She’d assumed they were on the same page about Remi carrying another baby now that Cara’s unable, and she’s devastated to learn it’s something Remi simply can’t bring herself to do.
Later, Cara discards the antique high-chair she’d begun to restore – bittersweet as she lays to rest her dream of having another child.
