Big Brother 2024 fans react to live eviction door blunder
Big Brother fans have reacted to the “technical difficulties” during the latest live eviction, which saw a housemate’s exit delayed.
Friday’s (November 1) episode saw Dean become the fifth housemate – following Martha, Izaaz, Daze and Ryan – to depart the series, with his exit coming after a heated process involving face-to-face nominations.
After hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best confirmed that Dean had been voted off the show, his exit was delayed by a few minutes after the doors failed to open, with both the hosts and housemates remarking upon the matter.

The blunder generated plenty of chatter on social media, with many fans taking to X/Twitter to express their joy at what was dubbed by Will on Late & Live as “the longest exit in Big Brother history”.
“Not the doors breaking lmao #bbuk” wrote one fan, with a second noting: “I’m screaming, not the tech difficulty with the doors. In the years I have watched Big Brother, I don’t think I’ve seen the doors jam during eviction night #BBUK.”
“In the 20ish years I’ve watched Big Brother I’ve NEVER seen the doors malfunction in an eviction before. Dean doesn’t get the countdown or fireworks, that’s so unfair. But also hilarious. #BBUK,” wrote a third fan.
“Why do I feel like the door being stuck due to ‘technical difficulties’ is on purpose #BBUK” asked a fourth fan, with a fifth making a Big Brother themed joke as they quipped: “So Dean basically got a back door eviction because the front door broke. I can’t… #bbuk.”

A sixth fan also expressed their joy at the mishap, writing: “THE DOOR NOT OPENING FOR DEAN. WILL DOING HIS BEST TO FILL TIME. AJ COMPLETELY GIVEN UP LIKE A RABBIT IN THE HEADLIGHTS. THE CROWD WONDERING WHAT ON EARTH TO DO. I can’t, I’m screaming.”
“The door breaking. The garden eviction. The producer voice. The awkwardly long time to get Dean onto the outdoor set (*cut for time*). Will going to find Dean. Hang it in the Louvre #BBUK #BBLL,” added a seventh viewer, who also took great pleasure at the blunder.
After joking that it was “the longest goodbye ever”, Dean did eventually make it out of the Big Brother house, where he insisted he “knew” he’d be the one evicted.
